Chamber members are invited to join members of the Small Business Council and other Chamber-member small businesses at a Small Business Roundtable discussion on Wednesday, May 5 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.The discussion topic for this roundtable will be advertising, marketing, and PR as they relate to your small business. For example -should you be spending more in a down economy, mediums: newspaper - radio - social media, assessing your marketing efforts, media relations & press releases - How to.Please fill out the registration to help us gauge how many people will be in attendance. What Business Owners Need to Know About Employment Law - Legal and Effective Hiring and Management of Talent". whether you have one employee or 100, being knowledgeable about the labor and employment laws that apply to you as a business owner is a must. This workshop will provide you with an overview of the laws that may apply to your business; give you examples of some of the more challenging employment scenarios that you may be called upon to manage, together with advice on how to respond; and review some best practices for managing and retaining the talent that is the lifeblood of your business. Risa Mish is an experienced management-side employment lawyer, a member of the Johnson School of Management faculty at Cornell, and principal in a firm that provides HR and employment law advice and consulting services to other business owners.Risa Mish will be presenting this workshop. Risa M. Mish is Director of the Leadership Skills Program at Cornell University Law School. She currently runs a management consulting and training practice providing strategic employee relations advice and training to senior executives and human resources teams.
